The Royal Liver Building, Pier Head

• A Beatles tour taking in the Casbah, Stanley Street and Eleanor Rigby, the homes of John, Paul, George and Ringo in the suburbs.
• The two magnificent cathedrals, completely different in architectural style, but landmarks equally for the Catholic and Anglican church communities.
• A behind the scenes tour of one (or both) of Liverpool’s football clubs.

Liverpool’s musical tradition goes back much further than the 1960s and, to many people, Liverpool is the spiritual home of the sea shanty, sung aboard the many merchant ships that sailed from Liverpool to the Americas, Africa and Europe. There are regular sea shanty events in the city, where you can join locals in singing some of the favourite songs of the sailors.

Whether you are at the Albert Dock or on a Beatles tour, you will want to spend time just chatting to local people. You might not immediately understand some of their sayings... and the unique Scouse accent can seem impenetrable at first!
