England is of course famous for its theatre and London has perhaps the greatest concentration of performance venues in Europe. The latest West End productions often feature Hollywood stars and the quality of musicals, from Phantom of the Opera to The Lion King, are second to none.

Manchester is a Mecca for sports fans the world over, and a seat at Old Trafford soccer stadium for one of Manchester United’s home games is highly prized!

While in Manchester, an easy detour to Salford to visit the Imperial War Museum North and the Lowry Gallery – home of the national collection of paintings by LS Lowry, England’s most popular 20th Century painter – is recommended.
