English Tourism Week, the annual week dedicated to celebrating England’s tourism industry, takes place from 14 to 23 March 2025. English Tourism Week sees the industry come together to highlight tourism’s importance to local communities and economies and to promote the innovation, quality and range of products and services on offer.
Co-ordinated by VisitEngland, this year’s campaign is using the strapline ‘Supporting people and places to drive growth’ in order to celebrate the people, places, businesses, attractions, experiences and destinations at the heart of England’s tourism sector.
Tourism Minister Sir Chris Bryant said: “England’s first-class tourism offering is a source of national pride, bringing in billions for the economy, supporting millions of jobs and driving growth into local communities. English Tourism Week is a time to celebrate that and all the hard work our visitor economy does showcasing our country to the world.
“As part of our Plan for Change we have an ambition to welcome 50 million international visitors a year to the UK by 2030, so I urge everyone to come and explore all we have to offer not just throughout this week but all year round.”
VisitEngland Director Andrew Stokes said: “With spring upon us and the Easter break just ahead it is timely to shine a spotlight on the outstanding tourism offer here on our doorstep, and on an industry which supports millions of jobs and local economies right across England.
"We also know that it has been a very mixed picture for many destinations across England, highlighting the challenges for tourism businesses. So, this is a rallying cry to really encourage everyone to explore England in springtime and throughout the summer as we celebrate our valuable industry, boosting its profile and acknowledging the hard-working people who go above and beyond for our visitors.”
Tourism is one of England’s largest and most valuable industries, supporting hundreds of thousands of small-to-medium sized businesses, employing 2.6 million people and generating about £71.6 billion annually for the economy in domestic visitor spending.
HM King Charles III, Patron of English Tourism Week, said: “I personally believe that we are incredibly lucky to be blessed with such a rich assortment of historic and cultural gems in this country, not to mention the jewel of our national parks and, above all, some of the wonders of our many hidden gardens which are once again ready to amaze and delight visitors.”
Janet Redler, Managing Director of Janet Redler Travel, added: “As an inbound tour operator, we work hard all year round to promote the delights of a trip to England. We know that England has much to offer overseas visitors, so we’re pleased to support English Tourism Week to help encourage more people than ever to enjoy our fabulous tourism industry.”
Destinations, tourism businesses and visitor attractions are being encouraged to get involved in English Tourism Week and VisitEngland is encouraging people to show support for English tourism on social media by using the hash tag #EnglishTourismWeek25.
VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar 2025 competition will conclude during the week and VisitEngland, Local Visitor Economy Partnerships (LVEPs) and destinations are asking MPs, local authorities, the UK Government and other stakeholders to get involved, for example by visiting local tourism businesses and attractions during the week.
