Blenheim Palace, one of England’s finest stately homes and birthplace of Winston Churchill, will shine this Christmas with a magical winter experience like no other.
Visitors to the palace and gardens will be able to embark on a winter adventure inspired by the magnificent landscape, which will be dramatically illuminated with stunning lights, lasers and projections.
Trees will be draped in seasonal colour and silvery shards of lights, frosty snowflakes, stars and baubles; the Heart of the Stars installation will scatter ethereal light across the lawn, and a scented fire garden will adorn the Water Terrace.
Visitors can explore colour-changing neon tunnels, lakeside reflections and a mesmerising space where fairy-fire, known as will-o-the-wisps, glow softly under the branches of a sprawling tree.
Visitors can also walk under larger-than-life arches of light into a world festooned with seasonal cheer, enhanced by a specially-selected soundtrack of festive classics. Street food vendors will be on site to bring a delicious twist to seasonal treats.
Blenheim Palace is the ancestral home of the Dukes of Marlborough
Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire is the ancestral home of the Dukes of Marlborough and is one of England’s largest houses, dating back to the early 18th century. It is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site which boasts a vast and beautiful landscape garden designed by Capability Brown.
Famed for its splendid Christmas events, while there will be no Christmas Market at Blenheim this year or themed Christmas tours of the palace, the illuminated trail provides a wonderful alternative which will set the festive season alight.
Janet Redler, Chief Executive of Janet Redler Travel & Tourism, said: “Blenheim is one of the UK’s most popular visitor attractions and is well worth a visit at any time of year. At Christmas, however, it is truly magical, and this year’s festive display is sure to be an unforgettable experience.”
Events take place across the United Kingdom in the run up to Christmas, and while there might not be as much going on this year as usual, there will still be many special festive activities, and the Christmas season is sure to be a magical one.
The Illuminated Trail at Blenheim Palace will be open on select dates between 20 November 2020 and 3 January 2021.
