Iconic Truro Cathedral in Cornwall, with its distinctive three spires, will play host to an incredible light and sound spectacular in January 2025.
'Space’, created by Luxmuralis, Social Media Channels.
Space is an immersive journey which will enable visitors to experience the space of the cathedral in a new light. Created by Luxmuralis, which specialises in immersive fine art, light and sound installations around the UK and abroad, Space asks people to look out into space and to think about what humans have achieved in their place in the world.
Taking place at Truro Cathedral from 13 – 17 January 2025, the artwork will cascade through the building, encouraging visitors to reflect on our connection to Earth within the universe, while music fills the cathedral, invigorating the senses.

During the day, the cathedral will appear to visitors as it usually does. Each evening, however, installations will be projected throughout the entire space transforming the look and feel of the cathedral.
While Cornwall is famed for its incredible coastline, which draws people from all over the world each spring and summer, in winter, visitors can enjoy a quieter experience. Winters in Cornwall are mild, so it’s the perfect time of year for a road trip, for enjoying long, bracing walks, for taking a relaxing break in a luxury hotel or for exploring the rugged inland scenery.

The light and sound display at Truro Cathedral – Cornwall’s only cathedral – provides a great excuse to visit the county in January. Truro is England’s southernmost city and is the county town of Cornwall. It is famous for its narrow, cobbled streets and stunning Gothic and Georgian architecture. The cathedral, with its three spires and soaring architecture is one of the most iconic buildings in Cornwall, attracting over 200,000 visitors a year.

Peter Walker, Artistic Director Luxmuralis says: "We are delighted to be bringing Space to Truro. Having lived in Cornwall for many years, and knowing the city and the cathedral so well it will be wonderful to bring this installation to the county and to present something quite unique in a place that means so much to us.
“As you wander through the magnificent architecture of the cathedral we will take you on an artistic journey to the edge of the universe and back, and experience the interior as never seen before."

Cathedral Dean Simon Robinson said: “One of the joys of being the Dean of Truro Cathedral is being able to spend time in this incredible building watching the morning or evening light move around and highlight different features. Luxmuralis will give us all the opportunity to experience and enjoy this place in a new and exciting way.
“It’s exciting to welcome this fascinating and immersive art exhibition to the cathedral and Cornwall. I hope as many people as possible visit and discover the beauty of this place.”
The successful Space installation has already been to some of the biggest cathedrals in England, including Worcester, Exeter, Bristol and Durham, and has delighted thousands of visitors.
