Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales will host a food festival online on 12 and 13 September in place of the annual food festival which usually takes place at St Fagans National Museum of History in Cardiff.

Due to the current restrictions around Covid-19, the highly popular St Fagans Food Festival, which usually attracts 25,000 visitors over a weekend, cannot take place, so the virtual Amgueddfa Cymru Food Festival will take place instead on the museum’s website and social media platforms.

The festival is a celebration of Welsh food and drink and will offer a packed programme of foodie activities for all ages including talks, tastings and cookery demonstrations. Activities will include a Welsh beer and cider tasting session, a bakealong, and a discussion on the future of food in Cardiff, presented by Food Cardiff. There will also be activities for children including circus skills and storytelling sessions, as well as exclusive music performances.

The annual food festival is a highlight in Amgueddfa Cymru’s events calendar, so we wanted to keep in touch with those audiences. The event will be available for everyone across Wales, and beyond, to enjoy and experience the food festival from their own homes. We’ll be joined by a whole host of producers and demonstrators across the weekend who’ll be sharing recipes, tips and takeaway inspiration.”

Nick Macleod of One Mile Bakery, who will be hosting a bakealong during the event, said: "It's fantastic to be involved with the food festival again this year. While we are all sorry not to be able to run our baking course at St Fagans National Museum of History as last year, the digital festival is really exciting in its own right. We can’t wait to take part.”
