At Janet Redler Travel, we offer a wide range of music and concert tours, but our opera tours are especially popular, and we organise visits to operas all over the UK.
Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London
Our opera tours are tailor-made to meet the requirements of our tour groups. Some will just focus on taking in two or three operas, while others will include different types of musical performance. Often the tours will also incorporate a wide variety of cultural activities and attractions, as well as the best accommodation and dining experiences to meet our clients' needs.
One of our regular opera tours is to North Wales to enjoy the wonderful Welsh National Opera at Venue Cymru in Llandudno. As well as including a number of first class opera performances at this excellent venue, these tours take in the spectacular North Wales countryside in and around Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, and a number of local gardens, castles and other places of interest. There is also the opportunity, of course, for our groups to enjoy the sea air at the wonderful Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno and elsewhere along the North Wales coast.

The Buxton International Festival is another popular tour destination for opera lovers. Taking place in July in the pretty spa town of Buxton, in the heart of England's rugged Peak District, this 17 day festival is a celebration of opera, music and literature. The highlight for opera lovers is undoubtedly the uniquely staged operas performed in the delightful Buxton Opera House.

We also arrange tours to see operas in a number of cities, for example Manchester and Leeds, where groups can enjoy the greatest operas alongside the vibrant culture of the different regions of the UK. These city tours are great for combining fabulous opera with a number of other concerts or performances, such as classical music, theatre or popular music.
The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London is one of the finest performance venues in Britain and a magnet for opera lovers from all over the world. Home to one of London's two principal opera companies, the Royal Opera House stages first class operas throughout the year. Situated in the heart of London's West End, the city's theatre and entertainment hub, the Royal Opera House is in the perfect place for opera fans to enjoy the best the capital has to offer.
Following a visit to the Royal Opera House, our Managing Director Janet Redler said: "The opera we saw was Mozart’s Così Fan Tutte and the fabulous performance did not disappoint. You expect top quality singing, of course, but acting is an essential part of the performance. This is a comic opera and it needs performers with the ability to make the audience laugh, and they certainly did! I had also forgotten how very good the orchestral playing is at Covent Garden. It was worth being there just for that."

Of course, for many people, the spiritual home of opera in the UK is Glyndebourne in Sussex, home of the annual Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Glyndebourne House itself dates back almost 600 years and originally hosted the operas, but since 1934 there has been a dedicated theatre. Today, Glyndebourne is one of the world’s greatest opera festivals and is a firm fixture in the English summer ‘season’.
Glyndebourne is in fact a leading example of 'country house' opera, which is such a feature of the English summer. Often planned to provide a leisurely or elegant experience, with time for picnics on the lawns or a full meal during the interval, there is something quintessentially English about such occasions. Country house operas take place all over the country and some of the most famous are Garsington Opera in Buckinghamshire, Dorset Opera Festival, Longborough Festival Opera in the Cotswolds and Grange Park Opera in Surrey.
